Powerman Alabama is open to all athletes for participation and there are no qualification requirements. Powerman Alabama Duathlon weekend also includes a PowerKids Duathlon and PowerMile Kids One Mile Competitive and Fun Run on Saturday as well as the founding event - the Whistlestop Duathlon. Bring all of the family and friends, there is something for everyone!
The Powerman Alabama Duathlon has been selected as the USAT SE Long Course Duathlon Regional Championship. Powerman Alabama Duathlon named 2008 Long Course Duathlon World Championship Qualifying Event. The World Championships will be held in Geel, Belgium on August 10, 2008.
You may not know it... but without the Whistlestop, there would be no Powerman Alabama! Powerman Alabama grew from the original Whistlestop Duathlon in Irondale, Alabama. The event was named the Whistlestop based on Irondale, Alabama being the true home of the "Whistlestop Cafe" from the novel and film "Fried Green Tomatoes." We added the Powerman Alabama race the next year, but kept the Whistlestop as a shorter distance option.
The Whistlestop race runs along with the Powerman race, separated only by wave starts.
There are two kids events to choose from - the Power Miler and the Powerkids Duathlon get things started on Saturday as the crowd gears up for the most prestigious duathlon in the country on Sunday - the Powerman Alabama Duathlon. So, please join us in encouraging health and fitness by bringing your family and friends to participate.
