About Pine Barrens Sports and Timing

Approximately 15 years ago Bruce Perazzelli took over the role of race director for an event called the Pine Barrens Triathlon. As a recurring participant, Bruce didn?t want the race to cease, which would have happened had someone not stepped in to take on the responsibility. Through his leadership and individual effort the race has blossomed into a multi-sport event, with four different races taking place throughout the season. They are non-profit, charitable events and Bruce has designated the Girard College Alumni Association as the beneficiary of his labors. As a graduate of Girard College, it is an organization near and dear to Bruce?s heart. In the event that you are unfamiliar with Girard College and its mission, we encourage you to learn more by visiting their web site at www.girardcollege.com. Girard College is a K-12 school for disadvantaged children in the City of Philadelphia. It?s original mission and that of its benefactor, Stephen Girard, was to form a home and educational facility for poor, fatherless boys. The make-up of the student body may have changed over the years, but the message and goal has always remained the same. The Girard College Alumni Association benefits financially, but hundreds of athletes up and down the East Coast also benefit from Bruce?s efforts because they have wonderful venues in which to compete
